“Judy – the – Morgan”
Admit it, that's how you read my name—then
you wondered if I was a Morgan horse that wrote stories!
One look at my picture ruled out the horse thing so I’m guessing
another question swirled in your head—Judy the what?
I promise you're not the first to have those thoughts. Nor will
you be the last. My name has been a blessing and a curse for all
my years.
The answer to your question is it’s Judy THE WRITER.
I’m hoping the uniqueness will stick in your memory, and
you’ll look for the name Judythe Morgan on bookstore shelves.
About me. . .
I’m a semi-retired antiques dealer. Though I no longer have
my own antiques shop, I dabble with buying and selling antiques.
Well, okay, mostly I buy, but just about everything in my house
has a price tag on it since my home is my inventory warehouse.
I’m a retired elementary school and junior high/middle school
teacher. I’ve directed children’s ministries and taught
women’s Bible studies at various churches in different states.
I currently serve as the Children’s Ministry Director at
my local church.
I spent years in the classroom as a student before becoming a
teacher but, my most cherish accomplishments come from being a
wife, a mom, and a grandmother. My education benchmarks include
an Associate in Science degree from Western Connecticut State University,
a Bachelor of Science Magna Cum Laude from the same university,
a Masters of Education from the University of Houston and numerous
Christian school and organizational certifications.
I've had experience as a DAC (Department of Army Civilian) in
South Korea and a library reference assistant and book repair technician
at a major Texas university.
I've been blessed to be able to travel all over the world. I’ve
had the opportunity to live in ten different states in our wonderful
United States. In fact, each of my three children was born in a
different state. You’ll often find the places I’ve
been as settings in my stories.
I currently live in a lovely Victorian home on the Texas Gulf
coast with my husband and our Old English sheepdog, Toby Bear.

About my stories. . .
I’ve always been an avid reader—cereal boxes, newspapers,
billboards, comic books—if it’s printed, it’s
likely I’ll read it. But, even before I could read, my Irish
storyteller genes produced voices weaving stories in my head that
I would write using crayon pictures. As soon as I went
to school and learned to actually read and write, I begin putting
the stories on paper and creating real books.
I'm married to my real-life hero, now a retired US Army reservist
and business executive. We had our first date on my fifteenth
birthday, and, even then, I knew God had given me my life mate.
For a long period of time, raising babies and my husband's nomadic
career occupied my time. The voices kept talking, but busyness
stopped my writing. I did manage to keep reading, though, and write
non-fiction. Things like curriculum for public and Christian education,
articles in trade publications as well as devotionals and selections
in publications like 101 Ways to Romance your Marriage published
by Harvest House in July 2003.
The voices in my head never quit, and my life overflows with grist
for my writer’s mill. Now that our nest is empty, I’m
able to write full time. The ideas flow and my belief in the power
of love gives all my stories a happily-ever-after ending. Check
out my manuscripts page
and you’ll see what I mean.
I won’t try to kid you—writing is hard work, but I
enjoy every minute I’m at my computer. Getting published
seems to be the hardest part of this fiction writing career I’ve
chosen. The competition's tough. The process subjective. But, I’m
confident.
Two quotes greet me every time I sit at my computer every day
to write. The first from The Message, Jeremiah 29:11: “I
know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take
care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you
hope for.” The other from Vince Lombardi: "The
difference between the successful person and others is not a lack
of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will."
